Mapuá Mission
Assumption
The history of Brazil will forever hover incomplete if the plots and sagas of the peoples of the Amazon in the colonial period are not recorded in it.
(Paulo Miranda)
Synopsis
Mission Mapuá is a plot that takes place in the mid-18th century, at the mouth of the Amazon River. It is the meeting of Isabelle, a young remnant of the Breves family, with Boyrá, a young Mapuá warrior, who remain guardian of the lands that were formerly inhabited by its people. The meeting between these two characters will be the thread of the plot where we will seek to discuss the policy of Lusitanian occupation of the Amazon (Grão-Pará and Maranhão), the role of the Church and the strategies of indigenous resistance. The two characters move through quests and memories. Isabelle longs to find Catarina, her sister, who in recent times was taken to live with the Mapuá. Boyrá will do everything so that not even a white stay in the sacred Mapuá land, but he will find himself in conflict as he feels reciprocal empathy for Isabelle.
